Der Main-Kinzig-Kreis (MKK) ist der größte Landkreis Hessens und reicht von Maintal im Westen an Frankfurt grenzend bis etwa 100 Kilometer weiter nach Sinntal im Osten. Von Norden nach Süden erstreckt sich der Kreis über ca. 50 Kilometer Länge. Der Main-Kinzig-Kreis hatte 2012 entschieden, selbst den notwendigen Aufbau des Glasfasernetzes zur Realisierung von Breitbandinternet voranzutreiben. Auf
