Der Kreis Ahrweiler beabsichtigt, das Gewässerbett der Ahr im Stadtgebiet Bad Neuenahr - Ahrweiler im Zuge einer Gewässerwiederherstellung partiell aufzuweiten sowie ökologisch aufzuwerten. Im Zuge dessen soll in dem Teilbauabschnitt BNA230 der Hauptaushub zur Aufweitung des Gewässerabflussprofils durchgeführt werden.
