Palveluntuottajarekisterissä hankinnan kohteena ovat vammaisille henkilöille tar-koitetut palvelut. Hankinnan kohteena perustuvat palvelut perustuvat vammais-palvelulakiin. Palveluja voidaan järjestää myös sosiaalihuoltolain (1301/2024) tai omaishoidon tuesta annetun lain (937/2005) perusteella.
